The Promises of Snow

Who's enjoying all of the snow we got this week?!

Not so sure about the snow, but I am enjoying the moments (though few) that I can be snuggled up under a blanket with hot cocoa, popcorn, cards, a book to read, or a Hallmark movie to watch.

There are a few things I do like about the snow, and those are the reminders that come with it.

One of my favorites is the bright white color.

Although blinding at times, you have to admit it does look pretty. (When it's all settled down and not a blizzard).

The whiteness. The sense that everything is covered. That we might not be able to drive, we might not be able to see because it's coming down, we might be stuck inside, but just as the snow covers the roads and everything in sight, it's a reminder to me that it's similar to how Jesus' love covers us.

There's no rhyme or reason to it, we're going to mess up, we're going to disappoint, we're going to doubt ourselves and others, we're going to be anxious about something,  BUT His love still covers us, and His mercies are new every single day.

We don't have to let the dirt and grime that covered us yesterday be dragged into a fresh day. Give yourself grace to let it go and leave it at His feet. Trust Him to carry you through the less than ideal times- His love, grace, peace, and joy will cover you, day in and day out.

The other morning, sis came in while I was getting ready and told me the sunrise was really pretty (because if you know us, you know we love sunrises and sunsets). She was taking the dog out for his morning walk, and I stepped outside to check it out.

The colors + the snow + the stillness of the morning, especially after morning coffee talks with sis, just filled my heart with so much peace. The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

He is faithful.

Wherever you are in your day, whatever tough or easy things you're going through, keep stepping. You might be slipping and sliding, you might be barely walking or you might be running. Regardless, put on your ice skates, put on your snow boots, put on your best shoes, because He will cover you with everything you need to give you the strength, resources, and abilities you need to persist in your journey. He won't leave or forsake you, and His plans for you are beyond anything you can conceive.

If it seems like you're covered by everything and none of it's good, find strength in reflecting on His faithfulness in the past. Cling to His word and His promises, because those are the things that will never fail and never change. I've learned that the times when life seems toughest are often the moments right before the breakthrough. Don't give up, and don't lose heart. Yes, I know it's not easy, but no one ever promised it would be. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and do so expectantly. Your promise is coming.

He's got your best at heart, and though the snow might stop falling, His love for us never will. He keeps covering us, day after day, with new mercies, new hope, new joy, new promises, and a beautiful future.
