When you think about, pray about, work hard, or wish for something, how do you feel when you get it.. if you do at all?

You can be happy, or it might not be what you expected. It could make your life better in ways that you didn’t know it existed. It can make you laugh, cry, happy, and sad, but no matter what emotion it causes, it seems worth it. Worth it because it’s what you wanted. Whether it be a promotion, a new relationship or friendship, a new house, whatever you have in mind.. there’s always going to be ups and downs with it.. Pros and cons.. Good and bad times that come along.

What do you do when it isn’t all that you thought it’d be, times get hard, and you become uncertain that it’s actually the right thing? Do you run away, shut yourself off, and give up? Or do you face it head on, and persevere through the tough times? If it’s in your life, then it’s there for a reason. Whether it be meant to be only a part of your life for a moment, a season, or a lifetime.. that’s not up to us.

Maybe it’s meant to teach us a lesson, to make us see from a different perspective and to open our eyes and heart. Whatever it is and whatever you’re facing, God’s got a plan for you. It might not make any sense now, and maybe it won’t even in a few months, but it will. Someday you’ll look back at see where you were and where you are, and how much you might have changed, but you’ll see what He was up to along the way.

When it doesn’t make sense and we get mad and sad and frustrated, we can’t let that get to us. Sometimes things are going to happen that we don’t understand. Life might put a few scrapes and bruises on us, toss us into unexpected situations that make us feel deeper than we ever have, cause us to question everyone and everything.

How do we get past that? How do we move on and trust that it will be okay? Well, we can’t ever be certain that it will be, that it’ll go back to how it used to be or that it’ll even work out, but what I’ve learned is to pray. Pray about it and trust that God will lead you, and that you’ll end up where you’re meant to, with whom you’re meant to in God’s time.

It isn’t easy to look past some things, but it’s possible. Whenever it seems impossible to forgive and forget something, I’m reminded that on the daily, I fail God. And yet, on the daily, His grace covers me, for every single little thing- no matter how big or small. If He shows me that when I least deserve it, how can I not do the same toward whatever it is that is bothering me or whoever I’m in need of forgiving?

He loves unconditionally. Unconditionally. And His love is greater than any love we will ever experience. So that’s what I will do. Or try my hardest to do. Some days are harder than others, but all I know is Jesus died for us. He gave His life so we could have ours. He did that knowing we were going to fail Him, mess up, and sin. Yet, He suffered. He died, and He rose again. So we could live. So we could learn of his unending love and grace.

If He did all of that knowing how the world would be, how could we not look past the minor, heck, even the harder things that frustrate us, get us down, and try our trust and patience? Sometimes it’s not easy to move on from something, but should we really try to hold onto something that isn’t going to help us grow or make us want to be a better person? Or should we just simply love? Love until it hurts and then love some more. Love when you're happy, and love when you've been hurt. Love when others don't deserve it, and love when they do. Love more, because the world is so empty of real, sincere love anymore that it breaks my heart. It isn’t going to make life any easier by trying to stay mad at a situation.. That’s just going to suck all of the life and energy and happiness out of us that we could use to make the world just a tad bit better.

So when life doesn’t make any sense, take a step back and try to see it from God’s view. What’s he trying to accomplish through it? Is He trying to open your eyes, show you that something’s right or wrong for you, and lead you somewhere or to someone?

Whether you get what you were hopin you’d get or you don’t, just remember that in the right time, the right people and the right opportunities will come, and until then, you’re where you’re meant to be and whatever you’re going through will make you strong and into the person God created you to be.
